Tesla plans to introduce the Model 3 Quicksilver paint color in North America and expand its availability to the Model Y in Canada.

Tesla has introduced its latest Quicksilver paint color for the Model Y Long Range and Performance models in the United States. Plans are underway to extend this color option to the Model 3 lineup across North America in the near future.

Tesla hinted at the upcoming availability of Quicksilver for the Model 3 through social media, announcing, "Quicksilver now offered for Model 3 in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East — more regions coming soon."

The Model X and Model S currently offer the older Lunar Silver paint option, but it remains uncertain if Quicksilver will also be made available for these models.

Elon Musk has previously discussed Tesla's limited paint color choices, which, like many aspects of Tesla, primarily revolves around cost. Introducing a new paint color requires Tesla to commit to supporting it for several years.

Approximately three months ago, Tesla introduced Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red paint options in Europe for vehicles produced at Giga Berlin. There's no news yet on whether the Ultra Red option in North America will be replaced by the new Midnight Cherry Red.

Yesterday, Tesla began selling a Long Range version of the Model 3 in the U.S. This new model, priced starting at $34,990 after government incentives, benefits from government incentives not available on the lower-end version, making it Tesla's most affordable and longest-range Model 3 with a range of 363 miles.

Comparing Silver Metallic with Quicksilver

Tesla previously offered the Model 3 in "Silver Metallic," but discontinued this color in 2018. The new "Quicksilver" color is darker and more gray than silver. This darker shade of silver complements Tesla's black trim more effectively, whereas Silver Metallic was a better match for Tesla's former chrome trim. The video below compares the Silver Metallic paint color with the Quicksilver option available on the Model Y.

Now you can get Quicksilver in Canada.

In Canada, starting today, the Quicksilver option is now offered for the Model Y Long Range and Performance. Additional options are expected to be introduced in the coming months. Color availability for Canadian vehicles depends on production from Giga Shanghai for the Model 3 and Model Y, and from Giga Texas and Fremont for the Model S and Model X.
