Tesla Expands Energy Product Availability Through Australian Retail Partnership

Tesla has formed a new collaboration with a popular home goods and appliance retailer in Australia, marking the first time its energy products are being sold and installed by a third-party vendor. Select Bunnings Warehouse locations are now offering Tesla’s Powerwall 3, Wall Connector, and Mobile Connector, a move that broadens Tesla Energy’s reach in the region.

This partnership follows the recent launch of the Powerwall 3 in Australia, further solidifying Tesla’s commitment to the market. The Mobile Connector is priced at $550 AUD ($358 USD), while the Wall Connector costs $800 AUD ($521 USD). Customers interested in the Powerwall 3 need to request a quote directly through Tesla’s website, with estimated pricing starting at $11,900 AUD for a single unit, excluding installation, delivery, and additional fees. Multi-unit discounts are available, with costs for two and three Powerwalls at $23,800 AUD and $35,700 AUD, respectively. A gateway for the system is also priced at approximately $1,700 AUD.

Currently, installation services for Tesla’s charging equipment are available at select Bunnings locations in Victoria and New South Wales. Expansion to other Australian states is planned soon, although the Northern Territory is not included in this rollout. Some of the participating stores include:

Victoria:

Box Hill Warehouse
Epping Warehouse
Hoppers Crossing Warehouse

New South Wales:

Castle Hill Warehouse

The Powerwall 3 offers several improvements over its predecessor, the Powerwall 2, including a built-in solar inverter and the ability to manage peak power loads of approximately 30kW—sufficient for running appliances like dryers and air conditioners simultaneously.

Tesla’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) initiative is also active in parts of Australia, allowing Powerwall owners to contribute surplus energy back to the grid during peak demand periods. This distributed energy system helps stabilize electricity supply while enabling participants to earn money by selling stored energy.

By leveraging this new retail partnership and its innovative energy programs, Tesla continues to redefine energy management and accessibility in Australia, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
