Rumors swirl about the anticipated commencement date for the groundbreaking ceremony at Tesla's Giga Mexico site.

Rumors have been swirling about Tesla's Giga Mexico, especially concerning its groundbreaking ceremony. Initial groundwork for the Gigafactory in Nuevo León's Tesla District reportedly commenced before the turn of the year.

Towards the end of December, notable strides were made in preparing the site, including the setup of entrances and exits along the Monterrey-Saltillio Highway, as announced by the Nuevo León government. However, the layout for Giga Mexico was still under Tesla's refinement during this time.

Attention is now fixed on the awaited groundbreaking event, but there's a consensus that significant preparatory work needs completion before actual construction begins at Tesla's planned gigafactory. Sergio Reséndez, General Director of Colliers, opined that Tesla might hold off on the groundbreaking until after Mexico's upcoming general elections in June 2024. He expressed doubts due to the challenging nature of arranging a ceremony amid electoral restrictions.

Reséndez doesn't foresee Tesla initiating the groundbreaking in the first half of the year, attributing this delay to the necessary preliminary groundwork for Giga Mexico. However, Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda holds a different view. He speculates that Tesla might forge ahead with the ceremony in the first quarter of 2024, citing progress made in late 2023 and downplaying potential electoral interference.

The Governor emphasized Tesla's global pace and expressed optimism about visible advancements by January's end, despite uncertainty regarding the impact of Mexico's elections on Tesla's timeline.
