New Upgrades—Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are Improved in China
Tesla has recently implemented a series of enhancements to its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in China, focusing on improving their range and performance. The long-range Model 3 now boasts an impressive CLTC-rated range of 753 kilometers (468 miles), an increase from the previous 713 kilometers (443 miles). This upgrade is accompanied by a notable acceleration improvement, with the 0-100 km/h time reduced from 4.4 seconds to just 3.8 seconds. These enhancements suggest that Tesla has integrated the previously optional Acceleration Boost feature, which was priced at RMB 14,100 (approximately $1,968), into the standard offering for this model.

In terms of pricing, the Model 3 Long Range All-Wheel Drive has seen a price increase of RMB 10,000 (around $1,400), bringing its new cost to RMB 285,500 (about $39,300). Despite this hike, the delivery wait times for this variant have significantly decreased, now ranging from just 1 to 3 weeks, compared to the previous 3 to 5 weeks. Meanwhile, the entry-level RWD and Performance versions of the Model 3 remain at their original prices of RMB 235,500 and RMB 339,500, respectively, with wait times unchanged.
The Model Y Long Range has also received a range boost, now rated at 750 kilometers (466 miles), up from 719 kilometers (447 miles), while its price remains steady at RMB 313,500 ($43,759). The delivery times for the Model Y have improved as well, with the Long Range variant now available in 1 to 3 weeks. Tesla continues to provide various purchase incentives in China, including discounts on select paint options and interest-free financing for eligible models, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing customer experience and expanding its market presence.
