The advertisement for the Tesla Cybertruck showcasing bi-directional charging includes a cameo appearance by the Nothing Phone.

A recent promotional video for the Tesla Cybertruck, shared on X (formerly Twitter), has garnered attention in the smartphone community. Tesla showcased the Cybertruck's innovative features, including its bi-directional charging system and onboard 120V and 240V outlets. The advertisement, an extended version from the Cybertruck's debut event, demonstrated the vehicle's capability to power homes and other electric cars, as well as various applications like construction tools and DJ equipment.

What captured the online audience's interest was the unconventional smartphone featured in the video. Instead of mainstream models like the Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy Fold, Tesla opted for a phone adorned with glowing LED glyphs at the rear. Social media users speculated about this being Elon Musk's rumored "alternative smartphone." However, a closer look revealed it to be the Nothing Phone (1), crafted by London-based Nothing Technology Limited, founded by Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus.

Despite the Nothing Phone (1) not being widely available in the United States, its appearance in the Cybertruck ad drew appreciation from Carl Pei, who expressed gratitude to Elon Musk. The unconventional choice of a smartphone aligns with the Cybertruck's avant-garde nature, emphasizing Tesla's inclination towards non-mainstream devices.
