Tesla's executive has provided further details on access to NACS (North American Convenience Store) Superchargers for Tesla vehicles.

Tesla executive Rohan Patel provided clarification on the accessibility of Supercharger NACS for non-Tesla vehicles such as Rivian and Ford. Patel, serving as Tesla’s Vice President of Public Policy and Business Development, responded to inquiries from Teslavangelist regarding the availability of Supercharger stalls with NACS connectors for non-Tesla EV owners.

In a recent exchange, Patel addressed concerns raised by Teslavangelist about the number of Supercharger stalls accessible to non-Tesla EV owners, particularly with NACS connectors. Tesla recently expanded access to its Supercharger Network for Ford and Rivian electric vehicles via NACS connectors. Both automakers claimed that NACS connectors grant Ford and Rivian owners access to over 15,000 Tesla Supercharger locations. Teslavangelist expressed skepticism, noting that non-Tesla EV owners are limited to using V3 and V4 Superchargers, casting doubt on the availability of 15,000 Supercharger stalls. Patel clarified that Rivian and Ford EV owners actually have access to 16,000 Supercharger stalls. He explained that approximately 11,000 Superchargers are reserved exclusively for Tesla customers, with most being V2 stalls.

Posting on X, Patel remarked, “Multiple stations are being added every week, and our only real bottleneck is utility interconnection, which unfortunately takes too long.”

Further elaboration from Grok revealed that Tesla operates more than 2,100 Supercharger stations and over 20,000 stalls across the United States. NACS users from Rivian and Ford can utilize a portion of these Superchargers. Rivian introduced an infotainment update to assist owners in identifying Tesla Supercharger stalls compatible with NACS connectors, simplifying trip planning.

Tesla intends to extend Supercharger NACS access to additional automakers in the coming months, including Lucid, BMW, General Motors, and Hyundai.
