In a recent independent range test conducted on the Tesla Cybertruck, the electric pickup covered a mere 254 miles on the highway. This falls notably short of the anticipated 320-mile EPA range, yet it's crucial to consider the context: the test was executed in chilly weather conditions, solely on the highway.

Since its production launch, the Cybertruck has faced disappointment in terms of achieving its promised range. To address this, Tesla introduced a pricey "range extender" battery system, priced at $16,000, designed to augment the truck's range. However, this add-on occupies space in the truck bed and is presently unavailable.

For now, the Cybertruck's Dual Motor variant delivers an EPA-estimated range of around 320 miles with the standard tires. However, as is the case with any vehicle, real-world range can be influenced by numerous variables. Extensive independent testing will be imperative to gain a more accurate understanding of the electric pickup's actual range.

In a test conducted by Out of Specs, the Cybertruck was driven at 70 mph on the highway, broadcasting the entire journey live. Despite its 123 kWh battery pack, the truck managed a modest 254-mile (409 km) distance before the battery was completely drained. It's important to note that this result, significantly lower than the EPA estimate, occurred predominantly under highway driving conditions and at a temperature of 46°F (8°C).
