Tesla has confirmed that several Cybertrucks have been registered in Europe

Another Tesla Cybertruck has officially been registered in Europe, as confirmed over the weekend by one of the company’s engineers for this distinctive electric vehicle (EV).
On Sunday, Tesla’s Lead Cybertruck Engineer, Wes Morrill, shared an image on X of a Cybertruck cruising in the Netherlands with a European license plate. The photo, originally posted by X user Dénis van Vliet on Saturday, captures the Cybertruck on a freeway in Eindhoven, although it’s worth noting that the EV bears an Albanian license plate.

"First Cybertruck registered in the EU and spotted driving in the Netherlands? It was only a matter of time before someone figured it out," Morrill wrote.

When another user implicitly inquired about how European buyers managed to register Cybertrucks, Morrill replied, “Make friends.”
Later that afternoon, Morrill provided an update, acknowledging that he had overlooked the previously registered Cybertrucks, effectively confirming their full registration.

Upon further investigation, van Vliet confirmed that the Cybertruck belongs to rapper Kosso, who recently mentioned buying the vehicle in Oisterwijk but was contemplating getting plates from either the Czech Republic or Albania. On Sunday, the vehicle was spotted again in Lanaken, Belgium, as reported by Nieuwsblad, confirming it as Kosso’s Cybertruck.

Tesla Cybertrucks that were previously reported as registered in the EU
This news comes on the heels of several reports this year indicating that some Cybertrucks have been registered in the European Union (EU). Most recently, a Tesla Advisor based in France mentioned that the first Cybertruck had been registered in the Czech Republic, although he did not clarify to Teslarati how the vehicle achieved this registration.

During Tesla’s Annual Shareholder Meeting in June, Elon Musk stated that the company might be able to certify the Cybertruck for markets outside North America by 2025, but confirmed that it would only be available in North America this year. He also suggested the possibility of a version of the Cybertruck tailored specifically for European and Chinese markets, despite previous concerns regarding the vehicle's compliance with certain pedestrian safety regulations.

In a December interview with Top Gear, Tesla's Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, expressed concerns about the Cybertruck's eligibility for registration in Europe, primarily due to its sharp edges.

"The U.S. truck market is massive, but European regulations require a 3.2mm external radius on any protruding features," Moravy explained. "Unfortunately, achieving a 3.2mm radius on a 1.4mm sheet of stainless steel is simply not feasible."

Nevertheless, Tesla has made its intentions to introduce the Cybertruck in other markets clear, showcasing the vehicle through global display tours across various Asian and European countries throughout the year. The company initially announced plans to launch the Cybertruck in the UK and parts of Europe in April, following earlier exhibitions in China, Japan, and other regions in Asia.

Tesla showcased the Cybertruck at its Gigafactory in Berlin in March as part of a display, but it appears that these units, along with others on its world tour, were not registered vehicles. There have been rumors about Cybertrucks being registered in Europe since early this year, but it’s likely that these have been imported by buyers after being purchased in North America.
