New Features in Tesla’s Latest Software Update
Tesla has rolled out its 2024.38 software update for final internal testing, focusing on two primary enhancements. Although this update may appear smaller in scale, it introduces some noteworthy changes for vehicle functionality.
Key Features
Spotify Access
One significant update is the introduction of Spotify compatibility for users with free accounts, particularly in Europe and Australia. Previously, Tesla vehicles in Europe enjoyed Spotify Premium as part of the Premium Connectivity package, but this will no longer be available. Instead, drivers can now log into their free Spotify accounts directly from their Tesla.
In North America, however, users of the "Streaming" app will find that it has transitioned to a free version of Slacker, which includes ads and limitations. If the free access to Spotify in vehicles is confirmed for regions outside Europe and Australia, it would be a substantial benefit for many Tesla owners, as most other music services require premium subscriptions for in-car streaming.
Side Mirror Customization
The update also enhances the customization options for side mirrors, offering two new features.
Adjustable Tilt When Reversing: Previously, side mirrors would automatically tilt downward when reversing to improve visibility near the vehicle's edges. Now, drivers can customize the tilt angle to better suit their height, enhancing comfort and usability. This adjustment can be made through the Controls > Mirrors > Adjust Tilt Position menu.
Quick Menu Functionality: Users will also have the convenience of folding and unfolding the side mirrors through the quick menu. This function is accessible by pressing and holding the left scroll wheel, streamlining the process of adjusting mirrors as needed.
Additional Improvements
In line with recent updates, Tesla has added a section for smaller features that do not require extensive release notes. Among these improvements are:
An enhanced Wi-Fi menu that offers more details about the connection and tips for optimizing it.
A quick function to manually fold the side mirrors.
Important security fixes and general improvements.
Update Rollout
The 2024.38 update is set to begin rolling out to users in the coming week or two, promising to deliver these new features and improvements shortly. Keep an eye out for the full release notes once the update is available to the fleet.
