Subaru Commits to Tesla's North American Charging Standard by 2025

Subaru is set to join the ranks of automakers adopting Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS), granting them access to Tesla's extensive Supercharger Network by 2025.

As the latest company to embrace Tesla's charging connector, Subaru will equip certain of its Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) launched in North America in that year with NACS ports. The company also plans to further incorporate NACS technology into its subsequent line-up of BEVs.

Tesla has successfully enlisted several prominent automakers in its push to standardize the NACS connector. This move aims to enhance the availability of charging options for electric vehicles (EVs) from these manufacturers, addressing a significant concern in the industry.

Subaru has announced intentions to offer an adapter, allowing its EV owners to charge at Combined Charging System (CCS) stations, supplementing their charging capabilities. This aligns with the strategy of other companies committed to NACS, providing drivers with access to a broader network of chargers across North America.

These adapters will facilitate charging at third-party locations and will complement the 15,000 Tesla Superchargers that Subaru is gaining access to.
