California Governor Highlights Mutual Benefits of Tesla Giga Shanghai Model in Factory Visit
California Governor Gavin Newsom lauded the collaborative model between China and the US, emphasizing the positive impact of Tesla's Giga Shanghai venture. During his visit to the Shanghai facility, Newsom not only commended the operational efficiency of Tesla factories but also personally tested the updated Model 3, exclusively produced at Giga Shanghai. He noted that this successful model has brought benefits to both nations.
Newsom highlighted the seamless 24/7 collaboration, where engineers in Shanghai work on new models during the day and transfer their progress to their US counterparts in the evening. He termed Giga Shanghai's role in China-US cooperation as "demonstrable," showcasing job creation and a spirit of innovative entrepreneurship.
"The benefits are evident, not just in terms of supply chains, but also in technological advancements that continuously enhance quality. This is advantageous for both nations, particularly for the state of California," added Newsom.
The governor also acknowledged Tesla's strides in autonomous driving technology, underscoring the pivotal role played by the company's newly established R&D headquarters in California, specializing in AI and self-driving technology. This headquarters, inaugurated by Newsom and Elon Musk in a grand event in February, stands as a testament to Tesla's dedication to cutting-edge innovation.
