Tesla Enhances Navigation Features with 2024.32 Software Update
Tesla has recently launched its latest software update, version 2024.32, which introduces several new enhancements, particularly in the areas of maps and navigation.
Construction Alerts on Your Route
In this update, Tesla's navigation system now displays construction zones along your planned route, marked by icons on the map. This feature is available for users with Premium Connectivity and Online Routing enabled. While Tesla's navigation already takes construction into account when calculating routes, the addition of these visual indicators allows drivers to anticipate and better understand potential delays or detours.
Predictive Text in Navigation Searches
The update also brings predictive text to navigation searches, offering suggestions as you type, which can help in quickly finding destinations. This feature requires a stable internet connection but is not dependent on Premium Connectivity.
"Search This Area" Functionality
A new "Search This Area" option allows users to search for locations within a manually selected area on the map, much like Google Maps. This feature is particularly helpful when looking for destinations in less familiar regions or when the automatic search area isn't ideal.
Tire Service Notifications in Mobile App
Tesla has also integrated tire service reminders into the mobile app. Users can set mileage-based reminders for tire rotations, and the app will notify them when it's time for service. This adds to Tesla's ongoing efforts to streamline vehicle maintenance alerts through the app, helping owners maintain their vehicles more effectively.
Rollout and Availability
The update is currently being tested by Tesla employees and will be gradually rolled out to consumers. However, users subscribed to Full Self-Driving (FSD) will receive the update later, as FSD updates usually follow a few weeks behind the main software branch.
