Each rider is allowed to bring one guest, provided that the guest is also over 18. Importantly, rides cannot be reserved for others; the account holder must be present throughout the journey.These guidelines are straightforward, and it is anticipated that Tesla may ease some restrictions in the near future. Once the safety monitor is no longer required, the capacity for passengers could potentially increase to three or four.
Passenger Conduct
All riders are required to remain seated with seatbelts fastened during the ride. Smoking, vaping, and the consumption of alcohol or drugs are strictly prohibited inside the vehicle. Passengers are expected to treat the Robotaxi with respect, leaving it in the same condition as they found it. Any damage or excessive mess may incur additional charges.
Driverless Vehicle Regulations
Unique to Tesla's service, the Model Ys still have driver controls. Passengers are not permitted to occupy the driver’s seat or tamper with any vehicle controls. Additionally, while capturing photos and videos is allowed, recording devices intended for surveillance or reverse-engineering are banned.
Service Animal Policy
Tesla has a clear policy for passengers with disabilities, allowing only trained small service animals in the vehicle, and no other pets are allowed.
