The MultiPass feature is designed to provide a “seamless charging option” for Tesla drivers, allowing them to locate and utilize third-party charging stations effortlessly. By collaborating with a network aggregator, Tesla has connected to over 1,000 charging networks and thousands of stations throughout Europe. This integration aims to replicate the convenience of Tesla Superchargers, where users can simply tap their Tesla key card or select a charging stall via the Tesla app. The cost of the charging session is automatically billed to the driver’s Tesla account, ensuring a unified payment experience that mirrors the Supercharging process.
To activate MultiPass, Tesla owners can easily follow a few steps within the Tesla app. After checking for a MultiPass invitation in the “Messages” section, users can activate their key card via NFC. Once set up, charging sessions can be initiated either by tapping the key card on a supported charger or by starting the session remotely through the app. Each session is logged in the app, providing users with detailed information about costs and duration, just like any Supercharger session.
