Someone cycling near Tesla's engineering headquarters in Palo Alto managed to capture images of the camouflaged prototype, which we identified as the Model Y Performance showcasing the new design elements. The distinctive 20-inch Plaid wheels, typically reserved for performance models, and the larger red brake calipers further confirm its identity as a performance variant.
Prior to the refresh, the Model Y Performance boasted an impressive EPA-estimated range of 277 to 285 miles, depending on wheel configuration, and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. The upcoming Juniper refresh is expected to enhance these performance metrics while incorporating new features such as a light bar, ambient interior lighting, and a rear screen.
