In the United States and Canada, Ford customers now have the option to utilize Tesla Superchargers for charging their vehicles.
Today marks a significant milestone as Ford's electric vehicle customers, including those driving the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E, become the first from a non-Tesla automaker to enjoy access to Tesla Superchargers throughout the U.S. and Canada. Recognizing the importance of expanding charging infrastructure, Ford is addressing a key concern identified in a Cox Automotive Consumer Sentiment Study – the need for more charging stations.
The integration with Tesla Superchargers, totaling over 15,000 stations, effectively doubles the fast-charging options within the BlueOval Charge Network. In a strategic move to show appreciation to its EV customers, Ford is offering the Fast Charging Adapter at no cost for those enrolled in the BlueOval Charge Network until June 30, 2024. This adapter is a requisite for utilizing upgraded Tesla Superchargers.
Customers, both existing and new, have the opportunity to reserve their complimentary Fast Charging Adapter by the mentioned deadline. Following this period, the adapter can be purchased directly from Ford for $230, covering estimated tax and shipping. Ford Pro commercial customers will receive information this Spring on how to order the adapter.
The BlueOval Charge Network streamlines the charging experience by providing a single stored payment account accessible through the FordPass App or the Charge Assist App in the vehicle’s touchscreen. With Plug & Charge activation, Tesla Superchargers will seamlessly support Ford EVs, allowing customers to plug in, and charging will commence automatically through FordPass management.
Looking ahead, Ford is committed to enhancing the EV charging ecosystem by incorporating the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector directly into next-generation electric vehicles. This advancement eliminates the need for an adapter, further simplifying access to Tesla Superchargers.
In expressing gratitude for this collaboration, Ford acknowledges Tesla's leadership and Elon Musk's involvement in driving positive change for the growing community of electric vehicle users.
