IIHS awards Tesla Cybertruck with Top Safety Pick+

The Tesla Cybertruck has recently been awarded the prestigious Top Safety Pick+ rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its 2025 models manufactured after April 2025. This recognition was celebrated on social media by the official Cybertruck account, marking a significant milestone for Tesla in the competitive electric vehicle market.

The Cybertruck's impressive safety rating stems from its outstanding performance in updated crash tests, which include enhancements to its front underbody structure and footwell designed to bolster occupant protection during small overlap front crashes. The vehicle excelled in the moderate overlap front test and received excellent scores in the updated side impact assessments. Additionally, its front crash prevention system demonstrated effectiveness in various pedestrian scenarios, with the standard Collision Avoidance Assist successfully preventing collisions in both day and night conditions.

As one of only two full-size pickups to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation, the Cybertruck stands out not only for its safety features but also for its advanced autonomous capabilities. Equipped with Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, the Cybertruck can navigate urban streets and highways with minimal human intervention, enhancing safety beyond traditional crash protection measures.

Community reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with many users commending the vehicle's safety achievements despite skepticism from critics. Tesla highlighted this achievement by sharing a clip of a critic who doubted the Cybertruck's ability to pass safety tests. The key question now is whether this Top Safety Pick+ rating will translate into increased sales for the Cybertruck, solidifying its position in the electric pickup segment.
