Cybertruck Foundation Series Available Without Reservation in the U.S.; Canada and Mexico Orders Open
The Cybertruck Foundation Series is now available for purchase in the U.S. without the need for a reservation. In Canada and Mexico, the series is open to those who have made reservations, with deliveries expected to start in October.
Cybertruck Launch in Canada
The Cybertruck has officially debuted in Canada following the approval of steer-by-wire technology. The AWD Foundation Series is priced at $137,990 CAD, and the Cyberbeast Foundation Series is listed at $165,990 CAD. These prices align closely with those in the U.S.
Currently, only reservation holders can place orders, with invites being sent out. After including taxes, the AWD Cybertruck in Ontario is estimated at around $165,000 CAD, while the Cyberbeast exceeds $200,000 CAD due to the luxury tax.
The Cybertruck is anticipated to be exempt from this luxury tax because its Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) exceeds the 3,856kg threshold. With a GVWR of 4,159kg, if the tax exemption is confirmed, the AWD model’s price would fall to approximately $155,990 CAD, and the Cyberbeast would be around $187,500 CAD.
This potential price reduction could make the Cybertruck more cost-effective in Canada compared to the Model S Long Range or Model X Long Range. Update: Siddhant Awasthi, the Cybertruck Program Manager, has confirmed that Tesla is addressing the Canadian luxury tax issue and expects a resolution soon.
Cybertruck Launch in Mexico
The Cybertruck is now available in Mexico for reservation holders. While exact pricing is not yet confirmed, it is anticipated to be comparable to U.S. and Canadian prices.
Mexico does not have a luxury tax on vehicles, so no additional charges will apply. Expected pre-tax prices are $1,888,380 MXN for the AWD model and $2,266,056 MXN for the Cyberbeast.
Availability of AWD Orders
Tesla initially planned to conclude the Foundation Series by Q3 2024 (September), but this has been extended to late 2024. The timeline may be adjusted based on demand and delays in Canada and Mexico.
As the Foundation Series approaches its end, demand is likely to increase significantly due to the $20,000 USD ($27,500 CAD or $377,570 MXN) premium associated with it.
