Production of the Tesla Model Y has officially resumed at the Giga Berlin-Brandenburg facility.

Tesla's Giga Berlin-Brandenburg has resumed production of the Model Y crossover, marking a significant milestone following a brief hiatus due to safety concerns stemming from a suspected arson attack. The restart was confirmed by Michaela Schmitz, chairwoman of the works council, who highlighted the thorough safety checks performed on the factory's equipment before resuming operations.

Despite the setback, Tesla demonstrated its commitment to its employees by ensuring they received their full salaries during the downtime. Schmitz praised both the professionalism of Tesla's workforce and the support provided by the company's management throughout the ordeal.

While the alleged arson incident understandably raised concerns among employees, plant manager Andre Thierig reassured them of their safety and emphasized CEO Elon Musk's shock and support for the situation. Thierig also addressed misconceptions about Tesla's water usage, underscoring the company's efforts to minimize its environmental impact.

During his visit to Giga Berlin-Brandenburg, Musk expressed solidarity with the facility's employees and rallied their spirits with a message of resilience. His presence was warmly received, and he engaged with government officials to reaffirm Tesla's commitment to the region. State Minister Jörg Steinbach echoed this sentiment, emphasizing joint condemnation of the attack and gratitude for the swift resumption of operations.
