Tesla’s New Wrap Program: Vinyl, Lower Prices, and More Colors!
Tesla Revamps Vehicle Wrap Program with Vinyl Wraps, New Colors, and Reduced Prices
Tesla has overhauled its vehicle wrap program, making several key changes that make it more affordable and accessible for owners. Previously, the company offered high-end PPF (Paint Protection Film) wraps, which provided extra paint protection but were more expensive and labor-intensive to apply. Now, Tesla has switched to vinyl wraps, significantly lowering prices while still offering customization options.
Price Reductions
The shift from PPF to vinyl has brought a notable reduction in prices for Tesla's wrap services, making it more competitive with third-party installers. The new pricing is as follows:
- Cybertruck: Was $8,000, now $4,500
- Model 3 / Model Y: Was $6,500, now $4,000
- Model S / Model X: Currently not available
This pricing change makes Tesla's wrap services more accessible, even though it remains slightly higher than some third-party options. However, the benefit of getting it directly from Tesla is the assurance of quality and precise installation by experts who know the vehicle inside out.
Color Selection
Tesla initially offered a wide range of colors for its wraps, but the new program includes a curated selection of eight colors per vehicle model. Model 3 and Model Y owners have their own distinct set of colors, while the Cybertruck offers a different palette. Popular colors like Matte Black are still available, but the widely requested Satin White is unfortunately absent for the Cybertruck.
Expanded Locations
When Tesla first launched the wrap service, it was available at just a few locations in California and Texas. The updated program has expanded, now offering wrap services at several locations, including the original California sites as well as a new center in Seattle, Washington.
This expansion makes the wrap program more accessible to a wider range of Tesla owners, especially those who may have been limited by geography in the past.
Available for All Vehicles
Another major change is that the wrap program is no longer limited to new vehicle purchases. Tesla now offers wrap services for vehicles that have already been delivered, as long as they are Model 3, Model Y, or Cybertruck models from 2023 onwards. The wrap installation process may require surface prep to smooth out any existing paint damage or scuffs, but Tesla does not appear to be charging extra for this step at the moment.
While some Tesla owners may have been disappointed by the switch to vinyl wraps, it’s a more affordable and practical option that still provides significant customization options. With lower costs and an expanded network of service centers, Tesla’s wrap program now competes directly with third-party shops, offering a convenient and professional alternative.
