Tesla Cybertruck to Feature 'Stuck Detection' and Introduces Fire Safety Guidelines
Tesla’s Cybertruck is set to enhance its off-road capabilities with a potential new feature called "stuck detection." Wes Morrill, the Lead Engineer for Cybertruck, shared this development on social media platform X. The feature aims to assist drivers in overcoming challenging off-road situations by detecting when the vehicle is immobilized and offering actionable solutions. In addition, Tesla has unveiled a dedicated webpage for first responders, providing critical safety information for handling emergencies involving the Cybertruck.
Off-Roading Enhanced with Stuck Detection
The increasing number of Cybertruck owners venturing into off-road territory has prompted Tesla to consider adding a "stuck detection" system. This feature is designed to detect when the vehicle is bogged down in difficult terrain and provide drivers with strategies to extricate the truck. These strategies may include adjusting tire pressure, utilizing trail assist, raising the vehicle’s ride height, or switching to a specialized driving mode. With the Cybertruck already equipped with a robust set of off-road software tools, this new feature will empower drivers to make the most of the vehicle’s capabilities.
New First Responder Safety Resource
Tesla has also taken steps to improve safety with the launch of a new first responder webpage specifically for the Cybertruck. Before this, there was no dedicated manual for first responders dealing with this vehicle. The webpage outlines crucial details such as the locations of emergency disconnects, the routing of high-voltage cables, and the vehicle’s structural reinforcements. This information is essential for safely deactivating a vehicle involved in a crash and extracting passengers. Tesla is committed to keeping these safety documents updated across all its models, including the Cybertruck and the Semi. These documents are accessible in multiple languages and follow standardized symbols, ensuring they can be quickly understood during emergencies.
Upcoming Winter Tire Package
In another update, Wes Morrill confirmed that Tesla is preparing to launch a Winter Tire Package for the Cybertruck. The package will include tires rated with the 3-peaks symbol, designed to offer superior traction in winter conditions. The package is expected to be released alongside Tesla’s Core Wheels and will likely retain the standard 35-inch size. The launch is anticipated for late Fall, just as the need for winter tires becomes more pressing.
Tesla’s continuous innovations ensure the Cybertruck remains at the forefront of both safety and off-road performance, offering users a versatile and capable vehicle ready for a variety of environments.
