Tesla and Uber Team Up for New Driver Discount on Electric Vehicles
Tesla and Uber have joined forces again, rolling out a new incentive for Uber drivers looking to upgrade to a Tesla. This latest offer mirrors an earlier program that ended in March, in which drivers could receive a $2,000 discount with an Uber referral code. The current promotion provides similar savings and is exclusively available in the United States.
Details of the Discount Program
The offer is straightforward: Uber drivers purchasing a new Tesla Model 3 or Model Y can access $2,000 in incentives. After purchasing the vehicle, drivers will receive $1,000 in Tesla credits once they take delivery, which can be applied to accessories, services, Supercharging, Tesla merchandise, or even another Tesla vehicle. An additional $1,000 in Uber Cash is awarded upon completion of 100 Uber trips, making this discount accessible to both new and existing Uber drivers.
Notably, this offer is valid only for new purchases of Model 3 or Model Y vehicles, including Performance versions, but excludes used or demo cars. The Tesla credits provide flexibility for Tesla owners to use across Tesla’s ecosystem, while the Uber Cash is added to driver earnings after the 100th completed trip.
Combining Offers and Eligibility Requirements
This discount program can be combined with Tesla’s Military Purchase Program, though it is incompatible with the Tesla referral program discount. However, any referral credits already accrued can still be applied toward the vehicle purchase.
To take advantage of the offer, drivers must take delivery by December 31, 2024, and complete the required 100 trips by February 15, 2025. Eligible Uber drivers can apply by logging into Tesla’s Uber-specific page to confirm their eligibility. Only drivers in good standing with Uber are eligible to participate in this program.
A Growing Partnership with Tesla and Uber
This latest incentive reflects the growing alignment between Tesla and Uber. Tesla recently introduced a Trip Navigation and Battery Awareness feature for Uber drivers, helping drivers maximize efficiency and range during rideshare operations. It’s notable to see Tesla collaborating with Uber, particularly as Tesla’s future plans for autonomous Robotaxis could present competition in the rideshare space.
This offer provides an appealing incentive for Uber drivers to consider Tesla’s electric vehicles as both companies continue to expand their influence in the EV and rideshare markets.
